HaloChat automatically triggers backup and sync whenever your data changes, such as adding contacts, joining groups, adding wallets, or changing wallet security keys. If a network issue causes a failure, the system will retry multiple times and continue syncing at your next usage to ensure final data consistency.
If automatic sync is manually disabled, the cloud will only store data saved before disabling. After reinstalling or logging in on a new device, inconsistencies in contacts, chat history, or wallets may occur. HaloChat strongly recommends keeping automatic sync enabled for secure, seamless multi-device encrypted messaging.
If you find that automatic backup has failed, you can perform a manual backup by following the steps below:
- You can manually resync the backup by toggling the Backup & Sync switch on or off in Settings.
- Please check whether you can connect to your cloud storage: Google accounts should be able to access Google Drive, and Apple accounts should be able to access iCloud.
- Please check whether the backup failed because your cloud storage is full. For details, refer to What to Do If Backup Is Full.
